Building on the strategic discussion in Mechelen, the second part of the series shifts the focus from policy and regional development to the practical implementation of resilient digital infrastructure. In Cologne, data center operators, planners, technology providers and infrastructure experts will explore how digital sovereignty can be translated into robust, interconnected and reliable data center operations.
The programme addresses key implementation challenges ranging from site and regional development in the Rhineland to data highways and interoperability, technical standards, reliability requirements and operational resilience. Experts from companies and organisations including JLL, NOYA Group, aconium, InfraOpt, different DC operatos (tbc) and FOGTEC will contribute practical perspectives and best practices.
The event will provide a platform to discuss what resilient European data center infrastructure requires in practice – and how technical design, connectivity, standards and operational concepts can support greater digital sovereignty in Europe.

This event is the second part of our two-part stakeholder dialogue on “Digital Sovereignty in the Heart of Europe”. Part I will take place on 8 October 2026 in Mechelen and will focus on strategic and regional perspectives. The Cologne follow-up will build on these discussions with a stronger focus on technology, best practices and resilient data center operations.
