How to secure a new model for oversight with the Internet’s infrastructure at ICANN and IANA?

IANA is the organisation that technically operates the DNS root server, delegates IP addresses and top level domains. The organisation is a part of ICANN and has the US Department of Commerce as regulatory authority. The United States announced in Spring 2014 that they would entrust the role as supervisor to the Internet’s multi stakeholder community. The process of finding a new governance structure, where the world society is involved, is well under way. A final solution is not yet found.

Therefore, The Danish Business Authority, ICANN and DIFO is organising a workshop about this issue in Copenhagen. You and everybody interested are invited to participate in the discussion about ICANN’s responsibility to the world community (the process is called ICANN Accountability) and the transfer of the oversight of IANA (the process is called IANA Transition). As the new Co-Chair of the Enhancing ICANN Accountability Cross Community Working Group, Thomas Rickert, Director Names & Numbers at eco, will take part in this event.
